14.2 Uninstalling ViscosityMaster
To uninstall the software follow the usual Windows procedure for removing programs. For Windows
XP:
•
Choose Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > ViscosityMaster 1.xx > Remove
14.3 Starting ViscosityMaster
Start ViscosityMaster just as you would any software application:
•
Choose Start > Programs > ViscosityMaster > ViscosityMaster
14.4 Connecting your Viscometer
You must connect the Viscometer to your computer if you want to transfer information to and from
your Viscometer

To connect your Viscometer:
1. Plug the 9-pin female D-type connector on one end of the data transfer cable into the COM
port

on the PC.
2. Plug the 9-pin connector on the other end of the data transfer cable into the RS232 connector
at the rear of the Viscometer.
3. Switch on the Viscometer.
14.5 Preferences
Use this menu to customise your ViscosityMaster working environment. Choose between metric
and imperial units of measurement, quality of report page thumbnails and whether e-mail report

If your Viscometer is not connected to your computer, you can still use ViscosityMaster to create batch
templates, view data downloaded previously and produce reports.

An RS232 to USB transfer cable is available which allows you to connect your Viscometer to a USB port on
your computer; part number T99916716. Contact Elcometer or your local supplier for ordering details.
