About the Removable Hard Disk
You can use the PR-50 with an optional removable hard disk (DV-HD Series) in the hard disk bay.
Precautions to Note When Using Disks
Please observe the following cautions in regard to handling removable hard disks.
Hard disks are considered a consumable item. We recommend that you save any critical video and
audio you want to keep onto video tape to protect it in the event of a hard disk breakdown.
• Components may be damaged by static electricity. When handling the hard disk, hold
it by the case, and do not touch the connector portion.
• Whenever transporting the removable hard disk, place it in the box in which it came
when purchased.
• This hard disk can be used only with the PR-50 and DV-7 Series devices. It cannot be
used with other devices (including Roland VS Series hard disk recorders, personal
computers, etc.).
• Hard disks are precision devices that require careful handling. The following in
particular will not only cause the loss of data recorded on the hard disk, but may even
damage the hard disk itself.
•
Shock from being dropped.
•
Vibration while the unit is operating.
•
Moving the unit while the power is turned on.
• Do not leave the hard disk in direct sunlight, near other devices that generate
significant heat, in a closed vehicle (in hot environments), or other such locations. This
may result in deformation and discoloration.
• Do not move the hard disk immediately from a hot, humid location to one with low
temperatures. This may cause damage to the hard disk.
•
Condensation may form on the hard disk's exterior and interior when it is moved from one location
(room) to another with different heating or cooling conditions. Using the hard disk in this condition
may damage it, so leave it as is for several hours before using it.
• Do not turn off the power while the hard disk is operating.
• Any disassembly or modification of the hard disk invalidates the warranty. You may
also be refused repair.
• Video, audio and other recorded data are deleted during repair. We recommend saving
any important video and audio recordings onto video tape.
• Recorded content may be lost if the hard disk is damaged or if operated incorrectly.
• To avoid the total loss of your video and audio material should it be deleted from the
hard disk, we recommend that you save any important recordings onto video tape.
