Use audio functionality
Recording sound on your computer
(using your application to record sound from a mic, guitar, or external audio device)
fig.connect-PCrec
Don’t connect anything to
input jacks you are not
using.
Howling could be produced
depending on the location of
microphones relative to
speakers. This can be
remedied by:
1. Changing the orientation
of the microphone (s)
2. Relocating microphone
(s) at a greater distance
from speakers
3. Lowering volume levels.
●
Setting
• Select the input gain as appropriate for the input device that is connected. (
➔
“INPUT GAIN”
• Use the
(p. 10) to adjust the input level.Check the input level on the application that
you using.
• You must set the PCR-A30’s sample rate to match the sampling frequency used by your application.
(
➔
“USB AUDIO MODE SETTING”
• In order for the sampling frequency setting to take effect, you exit applications and switch off the PCR-
A30, then turn it on again.
• If Direct Monitor is ON, use the
(p. 8) to adjust the monitor level.
* When you turn Direct Monitor on, sound will no longer be output from the speakers, headphone jack, or
master output jacks.
* Adjusting the monitor level will not change the recording level.

Connections
The sound of the device connected to INPUT L (MONO) will be recorded on the L channel of your
computer, and the sound of the device connected to INPUT R will be recorded on the R channel.
If you’ve connected only one side, the sound will be recorded on your computer in mono. (The same
sound will be recorded on both the L channel and the R channel.)

AC adaptor
It is not necessary to connect the AC adaptor if
you are using a USB connection. However, with
some computers, the PCR-A30 may not operate
when powered from the USB bus. In this case,
set the power switch to the DC position and
connect the AC adaptor.
Be careful of looped connections
fig.loop.e
If the PCR-A30 is connected as shown above to a device that outputs (“thru-s”) the input audio (such as a cassette
player that is in recording mode), turning on the Input monitor switch will cause the sound to loop between the
PCR-A30 and the other device, causing oscillation and producing an unexpectedly high volume. Be aware that such
connections may cause the system to malfunction, or your speakers to be damaged.
