TROUBLESHOOTING
Should some operational or performance problems occur with the 2000 Series Combined Side Scan Sonar
and Sub-Bottom Profiling System, it may be possible to correct them using the troubleshooting guides in
the following pages. For the Topside Computer and the STARMUX III Digital Telemetry Link, tabular
troubleshooting guides are provided in
, respectively. These troubleshooting guides
identify some symptoms that could occur and presents one or more possible causes and the
recommended corrective action for each. Perform the corrective action for any given symptom in the
order of possible causes, which generally corresponds to the degree of troubleshooting difficulty, from
the simple to the more complex.

Before proceeding with any corrective action, verify that the 2000 Topside computer is plugged into an
appropriate AC or DC power source and that it is switched on.
NOTE:
Be sure to also verify that all the cables on the 2000 Topside
computer and the towfish are mated and are not loose or damaged. Most
causes of operational or performance problems are a result of poor
connections.
