Configuring VLAN Interfaces

switchport native vlan
This command configures the PVID (i.e., default VLAN ID) for a port. Use the
no
form
to restore the default.
Syntax
switchport native vlan
vlan-id
no switchport native vlan
vlan-id
- Default VLAN ID for a port. (Range: 1-4094)

Command Usage

When using Access mode, and an interface is assigned to a new VLAN, its PVID
is automatically set to the identifier for that VLAN. When using Hybrid mode,
the PVID for an interface can be set to any VLAN for which it is an untagged
member.

If acceptable frame types is set to
all
or switchport mode is set to
hybrid
, the
PVID will be inserted into all untagged frames entering the ingress port.
Example
The following example shows how to set the PVID for port 1 to VLAN 3:
Console(config)#interface ethernet 1/1
Console(config-if)#switchport native vlan 3
Console(config-if)#
vlan-trunking
This command allows unknown VLAN groups to pass through the specified
interface. Use the
no
form to disable this feature.
