PIM Multicast Routing

PIM Shared Mode Commands

This command enables IPv4 Protocol-Independent Multicast routing globally on
the router. Use the
no
form to disable PIM multicast routing.

Command Usage

This command enables PIM-DM and PIM-SM globally for the router. You also
need to enable PIM-DM or PIM-SM for each interface that will support multicast
routing using the
ip pim dense-mode
sparse mode
command, and
make any changes necessary to the multicast protocol parameters.
PIM-SM Commands
Configures the switch as a Bootstrap Router (BSR)
candidate

Configures the rate at which register messages are sent by
the Designated Router (DR)

Configure the IP source address of a register message to an
address other than the outgoing interface address of the
designated router (DR) leading toward the rendezvous
point (RP)

Sets a static address for the rendezvous point

Configures the switch rendezvous point (RP) candidate

Prevents the last-hop PIM router from switching to
Shortest Path Source Tree (SPT) mode

Sets the range for source-specific multicast addresses
