Chapter 10 Periodic Tests
10.1 Safety Tests
Safety tests should be performed by qualified personnel every 6 to 12 months, and each time after
service.
Use a standard safety tester to perform safety tests. The tester must comply with IEC/EN 60601-1
or the local standards and statutes.
Refer to the accompanying operation instructions of the tester for test procedure details.
10.2 Performance Tests
The performance test should be done once every 12 months or when you suspect the
measurement is incorrect.
10.2.1 FHR Performance Test
1)
Switch on the monitor.
2)
Connect the ultrasound transducer to the monitor.
3)
Select the fetal heart sound for this channel.
4)
Increase the loudspeaker volume to an audible level.
5)
Open the palm of one hand and hold still while the other hand holding a US transducer
moves back and forth facing the open palm, as illustrated in the picture below. The fetal
heart sound should be heard during the whole process.
