10. Place the RSPF SPD in the panelboard as close to
the incoming power terminations for optimum
performance. Mount the RSPF to the bus using the
hardware provided in the Connector kit. Torque to
35 pound-inches (3.16N.m). See
Figure 5

11. The RSPF Series SPD’s Surge Ground Terminal
can be wired to either the Ground Bar or the Neutral
Bar whichever bar is closest to the SPD.
11.1.
When wiring to the Ground Bar,
preferred
method
, use a green or green with yellow stripe
#10 AWG insulated conductor. Keeping the wire
length as short as possible. Torque the Surge
Ground Terminal screw to 35 lb-in. See
Figure 6
.
11.2.
When wiring to the Neutral Bar use a white #10
AWG insulated conductor. Keeping the wire length
as short as possible. Torque the Surge Ground
Terminal screw to 35 lb-in.

12. After the SPD has been installed, check all mounting
hardware, line terminal hardware and the Surge
Ground Terminal for correct torque loading.
13. Re-install the rails and panel assembly using the
four silver rail screws. Torque the hardware
according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
14. Re-install any breaker interlocks or accessories.
15. Mount the panel over the SPD.
16. Apply the “
Protected by Eaton Surge Protective
Device (SPD) Catalog No. RSPFxxxxxxxx
” label to
the left or right of the SPD. See
Figure 7
.

17. Replace the panelboard’s trim/door.
