INTRODUCTION

The CurrentWatch™ EPRM Series is a family
of DIN-rail compatible, split-core current
sensors. Product features include a
large aperture, switch-selectable inputs
and outputs and isolation between primary and
secondary circuits. A patented technology
eliminates the use of a magnetic core and protects the
sensor against saturation and damage, which can occur
from continuous exposure to high currents. Models available
up to 400A and with 0-5/0-10V DC or 4-20 mA outputs as standard. The
EPRM Series is also available in True RMS, for working with nonlinear
loads in “noisy” power environments.

PATENTED PROTECTION TECHNOLOGY

The EPRM Series of current sensors features a patented technology
that eliminates problems associated with magnetic circuits such as core
saturation. The sensor will not be damaged by momentary periods of
high current, and the output from the sensor is limited to protect the
signal input device.

QUICK INSTALL GUIDE

The below steps can be followed to quickly install a CurrentWatch™
EPRM Series sensor.

1.  Run the wire to be monitored through the cable guide and aperture
2.  Mount the sensor to a standard DIN rail
3.  Connect output wiring with the provided terminal block

a.  Use up to 12 AWG copper wires
b.  For voltage output models, make sure output load is at least

10 kilohms

4.  Choose the correct current range by positioning the Range Switch

INSTALLATION

Considerations for all EPRM Series sensors…

•  Place the wire in which current is to be monitored through the

cable guide and aperture of the sensor

•  Insert a fl at blade screwdriver into the gap next to the split core

sensor head, and gently turn the screwdriver to release the latch

•  Repeat for the opposite side of the sensor head, and the top will

come straight off the sensor body

•  To clamp the sensor head, place it on the axis and press down

fi rmly until the latches clip in place

•  Mount the EPRM unit directly onto a standard DIN rail

•  Note: This sensor is not directionally sensitive and can be mounted

in any position or hung directly on wiring with use of wire ties

SETPOINT ADJUSTMENT

The CurrentWatch™ EPRM Series sensors feature fi eld selectable
ranges. The ranges are factory calibrated, eliminating time consuming
and inaccurate fi eld setting of zero or span.

Selecting Range

1.  Determine the normal operating amperage of your monitored

circuit

2.  Select the current range that is equal to or slightly higher than the

normal operating amperage

3.  Place the Range Switch in the appropriate position
