Introduction
This documentation describes how to use the hardware of the Cine4K
manufactured by DVS. The Cine4K is a high-resolution digital film and
video player that supports uncompressed 4K material with frame rates
of up to 60p. Where other players reach their limit at 2K, the Cine4K
just takes you to another dimension.
With the Cine4K you can add film and video material, for example, in
the DPX file format, to the timeline of the Cine4K software or open a
project file of a CLIPSTER or Pronto3 to use the material assembled
there immediately. Besides other high-resolution rasters it supports
4096 × 2160 in RGB 10 bit at 24 Hz, i.e. the format specified by the
DCI who consider 2K as an interim format. Furthermore, with the
Cine4K you can set up top-quality motion rides or 3D displays easily.
The Cine4K hardware uses Windows as its operating system and can be
delivered with various storage capacities. Furthermore, the following
options are available to adapt the system to your special needs:
FC/SAN
Fibre Channel interface, for example, for
a real-time capable connection to an ex-
ternal Fibre Channel disk array.
Raster
Customer tailored video rasters for in-
and output.
Multi-Device
Enables a synchronous play-out of multi-
ple DVS systems. One master device
controls other devices via RS-422 for a
synchronous play-out of the timeline.
