Tonearm Adjustment for the 6xx Series
1. Models with spring loaded tracking force:
All 6xx Series models, except the CS610, have a spring loaded tracking force
mechanism. The balancing of the Tonearm and the Tonearm adjustment must be
done as follows:
- First, the tracking force (right top picture) and the antiscating force (lower
pictures) must be set to “0”.
- Disconnect the turntable from power.
- Move the tonearm from the home position to the edge of the platter.
- Set the tonearm lift to the down position.
Attention, high risk of damaging the stylus!! Be very careful, that the stylus
never hits the platter during this procedure!
- Loosen screw 10 (left top picture) and shift the tonearm balance weight until
the tonearm is nearly balanced. Tighten the screw, that the balance weight is
fixed.
- For the precision balance, turn the balance weight (left top picture) until the
tonearm stays exactly in the horizontal line.
- Adjust the value for the tracking force on the scale, shown in the top right
picture. The correct values for different cartridges are listed in my stylus list for
the 6xx series.
- Now set the correct value for the antiscating force (lower pictures). The values
for different cartridges are also listed in my stylus list for the 6xx series.
