2.1 Image Processing Pipeline – Trigger Mode
The following graphic gives an overview of the image processing pipeline in the ATOM one
SSM500 in Trigger mode:
The camera has two independent video processing chains. In the following chapters they
are called “live” and “playback”. Each chain features an image processor that can be setup
independent to match your video production needs.
The output video is send to three SDI outputs for the live chain (SDI 1, 2 and 5) and two
for the playback chain (SDI 3 and 4). Usually SDI 1 to 4 will be connected to the
production equipment while the 5th SDI output is used as a monitor output for he camera
operator.
The live and playback chain have independent video processors which can be configured
with different settings. To switch between the configuration of the live and playback chain
the
out
command is used.
In front of the two chains is a common module for global image processing tasks, this
includes the white balance and the defect pixel correction. Also the sensor settings like
gain and exposure time will be common for both chains.
The live chain directly plays back the video coming from the image sensor, it has a delay
of 1 frame.
The playback chain reads data from the video storage system. The storage system is
persistent, that means as long as you do not change the video format, the recording frame
rate or the amount of recording buffers (see
video_mode
,
fps_mode
and
count
commands) you will be able to play back the recorded video even after a power cycle.
For more details on the handling of the recording engine please see chapter 17.
The playback chain can be configured to show a live image, if no playback is running (see
stop_mode
command). In that case the image coming from the live video image
