2.1

Meaning of the warning notes

The following warning notes are used in this document to notify users of
possible dangers. The meanings of the warning notes are defined as follows:

3 Principles

of operation

3.1 Feature

description

The chemical protective suit is certified as Category III personal protective
clothing.

The breathing air supply requires self-contained breathing apparatus and a full
face mask. The self-contained breathing apparatus and full face mask are worn
under the chemical protective suit.

Gloves and socks are permanently attached to the chemical protective suit.
Additional overgloves can be worn to improve the resistance to chemical and
mechanical erosion. The socks by themselves do not provide adequate
protection from mechanical stresses. The user must therefore also wear
suitable protective boots that are approved in accordance with EN ISO 20345.

The zip fastener is located horizontally on the back of the suit and is covered by
a covering flap.

The inside of the chemical protective suit has an antistatic treatment and
provides protection against electrostatic charges.

3.2 Intended

use

The chemical protective suit protects the wearer against organic and inorganic
fluids, radioactive contamination and against viruses and bacteria. It also
protects against incorporation of radioactive particles.

The chemical protective suit can also be used if sensitive products must be
protected against contamination caused by humans.

The chemical protective suit is intended for limited use. It may only be used a
second time if it is not damaged or contaminated. The use must also be
acceptable from a hygienic standpoint. The chemical protective suit cannot be
cleaned and sterilised again.

3.3

Limitations on intended use

The chemical protective suit should not be exposed to substances in higher
concentrations than those tested. Substances with higher concentrations
require other protective clothing.

Exposure to hazardous biological substances that do not comply with the
tightness of the suit can cause biocontamination of the wearer. For further
information see: "Technical data", page 8.

Avoid heat and open flames. The chemical protective suit is not suitable for
firefighting applications. For further information see: "Technical data", page 8.
The chemical protective suit does not provide any protection against radiation
by radioactive particles or against radiation damage.

3.4 Approvals

The chemical protective suit is approved in accordance with:
– EN 14605:2005+A1:2009 (Type 3B and 4B protective clothing)
– EN ISO 13982-1:2004+A1:2010 (Type 5B protective clothing)
– EN 13034:2005+A1:2009 (Type 6B protective clothing)
– EN 1073-2:2002 (Protective clothing against radioactive contamination,

IL: Class 1, nominal protection factor 5)

– EN 1149-5: 2018 (Protective clothing - electrostatic properties)
– EN 14126:2003+AC:2004 (Protective clothing against infective agents)
– ISO 16602:2007 (Protective clothing for protection against chemicals)
– (EU) 2016/425

Declaration of conformity: see www.draeger.com/product-certificates

3.5 Type-identical

marking

The type-identical identification marking can be found in the head cover of the
chemical protective suit.

The symbols on the name plate have the following meanings (see page 2,
figure A):
