XPA Xtreme Electronic Power Assist Maintenance
8 Maintenance
WARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK, FIRE,
EXPLOSION, AND/OR LOSS OF STEERING
CONTROL HAZARD.
Always
disconnect the unit from power before
cleaning and/or servicing. Maintenance must be
done by a qualified service person only. Failure to
obey this warning could result in death or serious
injury.
The maintenance and cleaning instructions provided
in this section should be performed at the intervals
indicated, or as needed, depending on the use of the
XPA. Failure to properly maintain the XPA may void the
warranty and could result in unsafe operation. Preventive
maintenance is not covered under the warranty.
• After each use, rinse the XPA steering system
thoroughly, using only fresh, clean water.
• Do not use acetone or cleaners containing ammonia,
acids, or any other corrosive ingredients, on any
steering component.
• Some products formulated for cleaning fiberglass
hulls are known to aggressively corrode stainless
steel shafts. If using a hull cleaner, avoid overspray
on the XPA steering system. Rinse off any overspray
immediately with fresh, clean water.
• Periodically lubricate the cable output ram and the
engine tilt tube with a waterproof marine grease.
