Transferring phonebook entries
• The phonebook secret code cannot be transferred.
• Phonebook entries cannot be received when “Restrict dialing” is set, but when phonebook entries are sent, phonebook
entries specified in “Restrict dialing” and “Own number” data can be sent.
• When “Transfer all” is used, the “Own number” data is sent with the phonebook entries.
• When you receive all the phonebook entries, the personal data stored in “Own number” (excluding the phone number) is
also overwritten.
• When you receive an individual phonebook entry, it is stored starting with memory number 010, but when you receive all
the entries, they are stored according to the memory number information.
• Phonebook entries are sent in order of memory number.
• Depending on the file size, data transfer may take some time.
• The transfer of phonebook entries, because it can include the transfer of stored still images or movies, may take some
time. To shorten the data transfer time when you are sending data from the FOMA terminal to a PC, select “OFF” in the
“Forwarding image” setting (P. 412) to prevent the transfer of still images and movies stored in the phonebook.
• When you receive individual phonebook entries (when entries are sent from a PC to the FOMA terminal), they are stored
under the lowest available phonebook memory numbers between “010” and “699”. If data is already stored for all the
numbers between “010” and “699”, the entries are stored in the lowest available memory numbers between “000” and
“009” (used for two-touch dialing) (P. 110).
• When phonebook entries are received, if there are already 700 stored names, phone numbers or e-mail addresses, or if
the number will exceed 700 when the entries is received, a message appears saying that the data cannot be stored.
Additional notes
• You may not be able to send a file to a PC when its use as an e-mail attachment or its transmission to devices other than
FOMA terminals is prohibited, but movies and photos (still images) shot with the FOMA terminal’s built-in camera, data
received using OBEX and data imported from a miniSD memory card is sent even when “File restricted” is set in the “File
restriction” setting.
• The FOMA terminal is effectively outside the i-mode service area during data transfer and cannot be used for voice or
video-phone calls, i-mode communication, i-mode mail or packet communication.
• After data transfer ends, the
icon continues to be displayed for a short time.
• You cannot use the Multi tasking function while using OBEX to transfer data. Quit all other functions and then try again.
• Because the transfer of still images, melodies, movies and i-motion files does not conform to the IrMC standard, data
transfer software supported by the FOMA N901iC is required. Still images, melodies, movies and i-motion files are all
stored in the Inbox.
• For mail that includes an i-
α
ppli start specification, the i-
α
ppli start specification is removed when the data is sent.
• Frames and Flash images are not transferred.
• Received mail folders for mail-connected i-
α
pplis are not sent. The mail in the folders is all stored in the Inbox folder.
Sending individual data items (Write one)
1
Using the data communications software on the PC, transfer 1 item of data.
Refer to the instructions for the data communications software for information on how to send the data.
2
Send the data from the PC.
Depending on the size of the data file, the progress shown by the communication progress bar indicator may be slow.
3
Select “YES” and press
d
.
When data reception ends, a message appears notifying you that transmission has been completed. If none of the FOMA
terminal’s keys are pressed for 30 seconds after the data reception ends, the received data is discarded.
