Checking for Messages
Default setting
Check for all (mail, Message Request and Message Free)

Message Request and Message Free delivered to the i
-
mode Center are automatically sent to your FOMA terminal.
However, in the following situations, your messages are held at the i-mode Center:
・
When the FOMA terminal is turned off
・
When
is displayed
・
When the FOMA terminal’s memory is full
●
Use “Set check new message” (P. 297) to specify which items are checked for.

Hold down

) for 1 second or longer.
The checking new message display appears.
The checking new message is done in order “Mail”
→
“Message Request”
→
“Message Free”.
The message icons (
(White) and
(White) or
(White)) flash, and the “Checking...” message appears on the
display while the FOMA terminal downloads your i-mode mail and Message Request/Free.
The number of the new received i-mode mails, Message Requests, and Message Frees is displayed.

To cancel the inquiry
Hold down
t
for 1 second or longer during inquiry.
When you cancel an inquiry, depending on the timing of the cancellation you may still receive i-mode mails or
Message Free/Request.

Check the number of new i-mode mail and Message Request/Free you have
received.

If the time and date are not set on the FOMA terminal, the date and time are displayed as “--:--” and “--/--” respectively.

If the

(White) icon was displayed, you have Message Request/Free held at the i
-
mode Center. Once the space allotted at the
i
-
mode Center for holding your Message Request/Free is full, the
(Red) or
(Red) icon is displayed.

If icons such as
(Red),
(Red),
(Red) and
(Red) are displayed, the FOMA terminal cannot receive any further i
-
mode mail or
Message Request/Free. Delete any unwanted mail and Message Request/Free or read or unprotect (P. 231, 232) your unread mail and Message
Request/Free until the icons are no longer displayed. Mail, a Message Request, and a Message Free which are read, or protection is canceled are
overwritten sequentially from an old one at the time of reception.

The table below shows the numbers of Message Request/Free held at the i
-
mode Center and the periods for which they are held.
Once the maximum number of stored messages is reached, messages are deleted as new messages arrive, starting with the oldest message.
●
Even if a Message Request or Message Free is stored at the i
-
mode center, the
(white) or
(white) may not be displayed if the FOMA
terminal is OFF, or if
is displayed.
