Network Gateway 3

Installation Instructions

Installation Procedure

The Network Gateway 3 creates a network bridge between the Ethernet components in the lighting network infrastructure

and the wireless light fixtures. Each gateway manages communication for up to 50 fixtures within RF range. The Gateway

is a PoE (Power over Ethernet) device that eliminates the need for power service installation. An optional external

low-temperature AC-DC power supply is available, if PoE functionality is not desired.

Installation Guidelines

•  For guidance regarding the preferred locations for Gateways within the facility, consult with Digital Lumens

prior to installation.

•  As a general strategy, install Gateways toward the center of each room or designated wireless zone.
•  Position Gateways at the approximate height of the fixtures, with a minimally obstructed line-of-sight to

those fixtures.

•  Install Gateways in low-collision-risk areas, where forklifts and other machinery will not come in contact

with the Gateway housings.

•  Install Gateways in areas free from condensation.

This product must be installed by a qualified electrician

in accordance with national, state, and local electrical

before installing or wiring Network Gateway 3.

Network Gateway 3 has no user-serviceable parts.

Do not open enclosure.

Do not use Network Gateway 3 if the enclosure, power

Step 1: Install the Gateway Housing

1. Option A:

Using two toggle bolts, truss clamps, or other hardware

(not included), mount the Gateway housing on a truss or suitable

ceiling structure (see Figure A). The mounting holes have a .25 in

(6.4 mm) diameter and are spaced 6.0 in (15.2 cm) apart.

Hint:

For better wireless connectivity, mount the Gateway housing

on the lower portion of the truss or ceiling structure.

Option B:

Using two screws or other hardware (not included),

mount the Gateway housing on a suitable surface (see Figure B).

The mounting holes have a .25 in (6.4 mm) diameter and are

spaced 6.0 in (15.2 cm) apart.

2. Record the serial number and location of the Gateway in a lighting

diagram depicting the facility or serial number sticker book. If you

have a barcode scanner, you can scan the barcode label on the

device label to rapidly record the serial number.
