3.2.2
GFS-FS REFERENCE GAS CYLINDER FILL STATION
The GFS-FS reference gas cylinder fill station may be located away from the flow
measurement components of the GFS2102 system. Following are site selection criteria to
consider for the GFS-FS:
GFS-FS dimensions and mounting:
GFS-FS is designed so that it can be easily mounted
to a wall or bench for convenient operation. The GFS-FS base if positioned on a vertical wall
or surface, measures 20 cm (7.9 in.) high by 41.4 cm (16.3 in.) wide. The overall depth from
the wall is 20 cm (7.9 in.) at the pressure regulator handle. The mounting holes are spaced
center-to-center 38 cm (15 in.) across by 17.4 cm (6.9 in.) down and are designed to use M6
or ¼” bolts or screws. There is a keyhole feature to the upper holes that allows it to be hung
while marking or installing the lower screws making it convenient for one person to install.
When mounting GFS-FS, leave adequate room to access the gas connections on both the
left and right side of the base. GFS-FS should be located in close proximity to both a high
pressure gas supply and a workbench or surface where the reference gas cylinder can be
safely placed during filling. The high pressure flex tubes delivered in the GFS-FS accessory
kit for connecting GFS-FS to both the gas supply source and the reference gas cylinder are 8
feet (244 cm) in length. Unless alternate plumbing is fabricated to make these connections,
the tubing lengths will define the limits for positioning the GFS, gas supply and reference gas
cylinder during cylinder filling.
High pressure gas supply:
The expected gas source to provide the supply for GFS-FS is a
gas cylinder at approximately 18 MPa (2700 psi). The maximum supply pressure that can be
connected to GFS-FS is 20 MPa (3000 psi). The supply media should be a clean, dry gas.
Gas purity is an important factor in the quality of GFS2102 flow measurements, so the
highest level of gas purity is recommended. Accurate measurement of 17 pure gases is
supported with GFS2102. (See Section 4.1.2).
The supply connection on GFS-FS is a ¼” Swage bulkhead. An 8 ft (244 cm) flex tube with
¼” Swage connections and a ¼” Swage to ¼” NPT female adaptor are provided as GFS-FS
accessories. To connect to this standard hardware, the user must provide a ¼” NPT male
nipple or connector from the high pressure cylinder or other supply.
