Measure the distance from the back wall of the GFS to the center of the 1/8” tubing directly
before and after the regulators. The both measurements should match the distance
established in step 1 within ±¼” or the cylinder may need alignment per Section 6.4.2.
Measure the distance from the 1/8” tubing directly before and after the regulators to the top
of the enclosure (approximately 5” or 12.7cm). Both measurements should match each
other within ±¼” or the cylinder may need alignment per Section 6.4.2.
If the measurements match then the cylinder is properly aligned and ready for use, otherwise
proceed to Section 6.3.2 to align the cylinder.
6.3.2
ALIGNMENT OF THE REFERENCE GAS CYLINDER.
Alignment should be performed without loosening the set screws or lock nuts holding the
carrier to the reference gas cylinder. If the lock nuts and set screws are backed off, the
placement of the pads that protect the cylinder surface from the set screws should be noted
and maintained. If difficulties in alignment are encountered, the cylinder can be sent back to
DHI for alignment.
Great care should be taken so that the alignment process does not result in completely
removing the cylinder carrier from the bottle. Should this occur, Section 6.6 details the
reassembly of the carrier to the cylinder.
