DESCRIPTION
Tolerance
[Mass (g)]
(Required numeric
entry)
The expected fixed mass uncertainty in grams. The value is used to determine the starting and
ending GFS tolerance values. (see section 5.7.10, %Reading GFS Tolerance).
Tolerance values are not intended to represent the final GFS
uncertainty. The calculated value provides an estimate of uncertainty
improvement over time. The values are used as a convenient scaling
mechanism for starting and stopping GFS accumulation sampling.
Tolerance (PPM Rdg)
(Required numeric entry)
The expected mass uncertainty in PPM of the current mass reading. The value is used to
determine the starting and ending GFS tolerance values.
RS232 Interface
(Required interface
setting)
The RS232 setting of the balance. It is
required
to use the LCM COM2 port to interface
with the balance. The LCM COM2 selection provides consistent time stamped mass
readings. The default RS232 settings for the balance are 19200,N,8,1. Double-clicking
this field brings up the interface settings window (Figure 88).

DESCRIPTION
IEEE-488 Card
(required drop down list
selection)
Select the manufacturer of the IEEE-488 card that COMPASS will use for IEEE-488
communications. If IEEE-488 communications will not be used, no selection is required.
COMPASS
supports
National Instruments
and
CEC Capitol Equipment Corp
IEEE-488
interfaces.
IEEE-488 Card
Address
(Required
alphanumeric entry)
This field represents the address of the IEEE-488 card itself and not any specific device.
Refer to the card manufacturer documentation to determine how to change the address in
the card when necessary. By default,
National Instruments
cards used "GPIB0" and
CEC
cards
use "21".
Only support detected
RS232 ports
(required check box
selection)
GFS Tools
automatically detects the RS232 ports on a host PC. However, some third
party extended RS232 port cards may not be properly detected. As a result, the expected
RS232 port will not be available in the RS232 setup. If this is the case uncheck this option
to list serial ports 1-255 when selecting available com ports.
