Important Safety Instructions

•  Read and understand tool instruction manual before attempting 

repairs.

•  Use only genuine D

WALT replacement parts.

•  Always wear ANSI compliant eye protection.
•  Disconnect air from tool and remove all nails before servicing.
•  Always point tool in safe direction when reconnecting air supply.

CAUTION:

•  Do not allow dirt, dust or other foreign materials to enter the tool.
•  Be careful not to scratch or damage the o-rings or any internal 

surfaces.

  1. Disconnect air from tool before servicing or repairing.
  2. Remove all nails from tool.
  3. Remove four screws from top cap (A) with 3 mm Allen wrench 

provided in kit box.

  4. Remove cylinder hold-down (B) from tool.
  5. Remove piston/driver subassembly (C), cylinder (D), bumper (E), 

bumper plate (F), and bulkhead (G) from the tool.

  6. Lubricate piston/driver o-ring (H) with the grease provided.

  7. Replace piston/driver subassembly (C), cylinder (D), bumper 

(E), bumper plate (F), and bulkhead (G) back into the tool. 
Make sure the bulkhead is properly seated.

   Making sure the piston/driver subassembly’s flat (smooth) 

side is facing 

FRONTWARD

, slide the piston/driver sub-

assembly down the driver blade channel into the nosepiece.

ONLY

   Making sure the piston/driver subassembly’s flat (smooth) 

side is facing 

BACKWARDS

, slide the piston/driver sub-

assembly down the driver blade channel into the nosepiece.

  9. Replace cylinder hold-down (B) onto top of bulkhead (G).
 10. Ensure top gasket (I) is

I

 

properly placed between 
the top cap and frame 
before fastening the top 
cap.

 11. Replace top cap (A) and 

fasten four screws with 
a 3 mm Allen wrench.

 12. Tighten screws snugly 

to prevent leaks.

 13. Ensure trigger and contact trip are working smoothly.
 14. Set pressure on compressor or air line at 80 psi.
 15. Pointing tool in safe direction, connect tool to air supply. Tool 

must not leak air.

 16. Check for proper operation of tool. If tool continues to leak 

air or if problems persist, take nailer to a D

E

WALT service 

center.

 17. If warning labels are missing or damaged, request replace-

ments from a D

E

WALT service center.
