Use of the speaker
When using use the MOH 15A for lots of different purposes, it is important to be aware of all the functions
and options of the unit. This section reveals all kinds of information which you can use to use the MOH 15A
optimally. This also ensures optimal audio quality, for music as well as vocals. Please read these tips
thoroughly and use this information as a reference sheet if you want to know how to use a certain function
most efficiently.
Audio inputs and volume control
Please make sure that the audio quality of your signal source is optimal. If you connect any auxiliary
hardware, please ensure that the sound played through it is of high quality (no low quality audio files) and is
not distorted. Distortion may be caused at your music source, usually because one of the gain settings is not
set properly. This may be visible on your auxiliary product because peak LEDs are blinking or red LEDs are
active on your LED VU-meters.
Ensure that the maximum output level of your auxiliary products is 0dB or as close to it as possible. For
dynamic microphones it is not possible to adjust or monitor the input volume. Please adjust the volume
knobs until the desired volume is reached and listen if the sound quality is OK. If large amounts of distortion
are present, it may be caused because the microphone channel volume is driven all the way up. Ensure that
the person holding the microphone is holding it properly (like drinking from a glass, but not touching the lips).
Most unexperienced people hold the microphone too far from their mouth, which makes it hard for the
microphone to capture proper sound.
Master level
The speaker is not equipped with a master level volume knob. Instead, the mix of the different channels will
create the master mix. Usually, this only needs to be set once with minor changes. When connecting several
audio sources to the MOH 15A and if the volume needs to be changed multiple times each time, a separate
audio mixer could be more useful to create a proper audio mix on the desired volume.
Bluetooth function
The MOH 15A is equipped with a Bluetooth function, which makes it possible to stream music from any
Bluetooth-enabled smart device, such as a laptop, smartphone or tablet. Mostly Bluetooth is used for
background music purposes or for simple music playback during performance. Please note however that
Bluetooth is wireless and not 100% reliable for music playback. This counts for every Bluetooth music
streaming device. Frequency interference may cause disturbance and loss of signal. If it is possible, please
use a cable to connect your device to the speaker, for optimal and reliable music playback.
Line input
The line input of the mixer can be used in several ways. It can be used with the dual RCA connectors for DJ-
booth monitoring, but also as main PA. Usually the MOH 15A is connected to a DJ controller, DJ mixer or PA
mixer. Connecting other devices may be an option, but please contact your local dealer when in doubt.
MP3 player
The built-in MP3 player can be used as a music playback device and also hosts the Bluetooth function. The
MP3 player accepts SD(HC) cards and USB thumb drives. It is recommended not to connect high-capacity
storage devices of more than 32 GB, as the large volume of the storage device may cause trouble when
searching for a specific file.
EQ Treble/Bass
The built-in EQ is used to adjust the frequency balance of the loudspeaker. It is possible to amplify or
decrease low and high frequencies if the situation requires this. However, Devine advises to use the EQ with
caution. This is because the EQ function can not be used as an amplifying device and may cause distortion
of the audio signal, thus losing music quality. It is recommended to reduce the volume of the opposite
frequency range. For example, if you use the MOH 15A for speech applications, large amounts of low
frequencies are not welcome. For these kinds of applications, you can reduce the Bass level, thus reducing
the amount of low frequencies in the audio signal. This will ensure more vocal clarity.
