With system software release 1.5 and newer, the signal propagation time measurements for
the cables are carried out automatically if a new UPDTS module is used. These new modules
can be identified by the extra label reading ”auto cable delay” attached to the handle. In
addition, this hardware module has been given a new part number: 73748.014/G48602-
112-B-51.
A prerequisite for automatic measurements is that a working base station be connected to the
cable. The measurement is repeated every time the system is re-started, every time the respec-
tive hardware module is unplugged and re-plugged and whenever the base station is unplug-
ged and re-plugged.
The automatic propagation time measurement function must be activated individually for
each FP via the comfort SPC menu ”Hardware nachträglich” (Subseq. hardware configura-
tion) ”FP Eigenschaften” (FP characteristics).
After the automatic measurement mode has been activated, it is no longer possible to read
out or alter the cable length data.
Note that this may lead to previously determined values being lost, so please note any such
values in case you wish to de-activate the automatic measurement function at a later date.
If the system has pre-release-1.5 software or if an old model of UPDTS module or UP0TS
module is being used, the propagation time measurement is carried out using a special mea-
surement-FP, connected temporarily at the PABX end, which is able to determine the values as
well as to save these in the ZST memory. In order to carry out the measurements, the cable
must be terminated by a shorting plug at the base station end.
