6.5.2 Advanced HDD Setup
In HDD Setup, press
Advanced HDD Setup
to call up Advanced HDD Setup as shown.
The HDD Failure Action in Advanced
HDD Setup allows the administrator to
define how the system responds to the
detected HDD failure, while the Privacy
settings allow the administrator to set
the DVR to record for Limited Period and
the Retention Period of its HDD storage.
The HDD Failure Action will be triggered
if there’s no available formatted HDD
detected.
The general operations are as below:
Mouse: Click in the respective item
Select the items to set.

Press this button to escape from this screen, and return to HDD Setup display. If the
contents have been modified, a Save dialog will be shown to ask the user to save the
changes, press
YES
to exit and save,
CANCER
to exit without saving.
Following is a brief description for each item and its specific operations:
Duration
– response duration to define at most how long (in seconds) the Alarm Out
relay and the Buzzer will keep being triggered after HDD failure is detected. The
value (3 seconds - 60 minutes, discrete, ‘-‘ for ‘Forever’).
Alarm Out
– to define which Alarm Output will be triggered when this event is
triggered.
Alarm Output Source Setup up to 32 alarm outputs can be selected, and
the definitions are similar to alarm inputs.
Buzzer
– to activate the internal Buzzer or not when HDD failure is detected.
Log
– to log to event logs or not.
Notification
– to notify mobile phones and/or send the event e-mail to remote
station or not.
The mobile phones with alarm notification from the DVR enabled will
be notified, and the e-mail will be sent to the predefined receivers when the event is
triggered.
Limited Period
– whether the HDD storage is for a limited period or not. The setting
“
–
” means No.
Retention Period (hour)
– the retention period of the HDD storage if Limited Period is
“
ˇ
”. Please follow the Text Input method described in
If this item is set as 0, it will be treated as No Limited Period.
