4.7.3.8 Setup

Time Source
To facilitate tracking of events in a network, the Paragon3 base station and the GeminiG3 mobile can ini-
tialize their real-time clocks using a number of protocols. At reset time, the Paragon3 can use the SNTP
protocol (RFC2030) to pick up the current UTC (Universal) time. Setting the “TimeZone” and “Daylight
Savings” options allows displaying the correct local time in the “Unit Status” page.

Place a check mark against each of the available time sources to be used on
your network. The preference order is GPS, Airlink, and SNTP.
GPS is not available for the GeminiG3 Lite model.
AirLink time source originates in the Paragon3 base (providing the base is
time-aware)
SNTP is a UDP/IP protocol that synchronizes the clocks of computer systems
over packet-switched, variable-latency data networks.
Refresh Period
Determines the interval in seconds before a time update will be accepted from
the time source in use.

to the next available time source in the preference order (providing it has been
selected).
