3 BIOS SETUP MENU
3.1 GENERAL INFORMATION
The DL9600 terminal is very versatile and can be adapted to suit many special
requirements by configuring certain parameters which can be changed after the
DL9600 terminal’s boot sequence.
The activities of accessing the parameters and their modification are commonly
referred to as DL9600 terminal setup activities.
The parameters have their default values, which are loaded automatically during the
booting sequence if the following conditions occur:

the first time the DL9600 terminal is booted, as initial setup of the parameters
themselves;
−
if, during the boot sequence, the BIOS notes that the previously-set configuration
parameters might not be complete or correct.
3.2 ACTIVATING THE SETUP PROCEDURE
The DL9600 terminal reads and applies the setup parameters at bootup.
At first the terminal reads the parameters from the CMOS RAM. If the CMOS RAM is
corrupted, the parameters are read from the EEPROM memory. If the EEPROM
memory is corrupted too, default values are applied to all the parameters.
The BSETUP.EXE program is the only way to modify the DL9600 terminal
parameters, it is a normal DOS program and can be invoked after the DL9600
terminal boot sequence. The parameter modifications made by BSETUP.EXE take
effect at the next boot sequence.
BSETUP.EXE can be run with one of the following two options:
BSETUP -C
the program checks the status of the CMOS. If the parameters are
incorrect, it asks whether you want to modify them. Otherwise, the
program exits. Default is no check.
BSETUP -D
with this option you can load the DEFAULT configuration.
In the NEWAUTO.BAT file it is useful to invoke “BSETUP -C”, so that if for some
reasons the CMOS RAM is corrupted the user is notified.
