Ensure the host computer, which will receive the traps, has an SNMP browser (such as HP
OpenView) properly installed and configured. Please refer to your browser’s documentation for
instructions on how to load the MIB files.

Set up the host computer to listen to Ports 161 and 162.

Load the following S2A9550 MIB. Note that the “sdd_trap.mib” must be loaded
last

Access your MIB browser. The S2A9550 is located under
Private\Enterprises\datadirect\s2a

Start a query. You should be able to see various S2A9550 information such as tempLevel,
powerNumber, fanNumber, powerTable, tierNumber, and tierTable.
6.
To verify that the SNMP function has been set up correctly:
- Unplug one of the power supplies.
- Check that a power failure message appears in your SNMP browser.

• Enterprise Specific Traps
- Any changes in S2A9550 MIB.
If any variable in the S2A9550 MIB changes, a trap will be sent. For example, when a power
supply fails or is replaced, a trap will be sent. Trap includes ASCII string declaring new status
of S2A9550 element.
