HINTS & TIPS
Check the ink ribbon and retransfer film to make sure that they are not broken. Refer to “Repair a
Broken Ink Ribbon or Retransfer Film” on page 77 .
Clear a Card Jam in the K2 Vertical Transport
The vertical transport houses the magnetic stripe module and smart card reader. If message
235: “K2 transport card jam” displays, you usually can resolve the error by pressing the U
SER
button to move the card into the reject tray. If the error persists, do the following to remove the
card from the printer.
1.
Unlock the printer, if necessary, and open
the printer access door.
2.
Press the K3 rear access door release to
open the rear access door.
3.
Turn the K2 manual advance knob
counterclockwise to move the jammed
card inside the vertical transport until it is
accessible through the rear access door.
4.
Remove the card through the rear access
door.
5.
Close the rear access door.
6.
Close the printer access door and lock the
printer.
7.
Press the U
SER
button on the printer to clear
the message.
