DD400g Gateway
4
The DD400g Gateway restorer stores data in and restores data from externally mounted disk arrays
through fiber channel connections. Currently, the DD400g supports data storage on the following
external disk arrays:
•
EMC Clariion CX300/500/700
•
NexSAN ATAbeast
A DD400g system has the same chassis and CPUs (two 3.2 GHz CPUs) as a DD460 restorer, but
no disks. Other points to be aware of with a DD400g are:
•
Supports a single volume with a single data collection. A data collection is all the files stored
in a single restorer.
•
Each LUN (or metaLUN, which is seen as a single LUN) assigned to a restorer must contain
less than 2 TB of data.
•
The total amount of storage in a volume can be no more than 4.2 TB.
•
The only supported network topology is a private2 GB Fiber-Channel Arbitrated Loop
(FC-AL). SAN features such as zoning and SAN-only data centers are not supported.
•
Replication between two DD400g restorers must be between disk arrays that are of the same
type and size.
•
With replication between a DD400g restorer and other model Data Domain restorers, the total
amount of storage on the originator must not exceed the total amount of storage on the replica.
•
Power supplies are the only hardware in a DD400g that a customer would replace.
•
A restorer does not support temporary fiber channel disconnection while the restorer is active.
Unplugging the fiber channel cable that connects the restorer and the storage array can lead to
unrecoverable errors at any time that the restorer has I/O activity. Data Domain recommends
shutting down the restorer before removing the cable.
•
A restorer does not support fiber channel multipathing (also known as failover) Be sure that the
storage array is not configured as if multipathing is enabled.
•
The maximum data size for a LUN that a DD400g can access is 2 TB.
•
The minimum data size for a LUN that a DD400g can access is 400 GB.
