JS1-H Steer by Wire comes fully calibrated. No further calibration is required.
System integration and testing
As specified in the safety-life cycle, after installation for integration of the joystick JS1-H Steer by Wire, the
system integrator or another representative of the OEM must validate the installation, configuration, and
correct behavior before releasing the vehicle for series production.
System integration testing covers the fully integrated system including the following:
•
Hydraulic installation
•
Mechanical installation including sensor installation
•
Electrical installation and cable harness
•
Software configuration
•
Functional safety
•
Interface to other sub-systems
•
Systematic safety integrity of the safety channels
The system integration testing will always be performed prior to starting production and after any
modification of the system.
For further information on validation, please consult the applicable Safety Standard IEC 61508:2010, ISO
13849:2014/2015, or ISO 25119:2018/2019.
Vehicle fault insertion and testing
It is recommended that the system integrator to perform Fault Insertion Testing on the integrated system
for failure modes where the system reaction to a fault cannot be predicted or simulated. Please check
with the EHD Safety Manual and the applicable Safety Standard which tests are recommended, highly
recommended, or mandatory.

Safety validation testing
Validation is the final test of Functional Safety before commissioning the steering system on the machine.
The system integrator must answer the following questions:

Is the system integrated correctly?
•
Is the system configured as specified?
•
Is the system working correctly?
•
Has the installation been performed correctly and are the specified Functional Safety functions are
working as expected?

Service part handling and repair instruction
For safety reasons, JS1-H Steer by Wire does not allow any in-field repair. In case of a broken joystick, the
entire device needs to be replaced.
Do not dismount or open the joystick housing. Correct functionality can only be guaranteed for original
equipment. Parts inside the joystick must not be removed, replaced or changed.
