What is an Access Point?
In
Access Point Mode
, the DIR-890L works with your existing networking equipment to provide Wi-Fi for parts of your home or office that may
have poor or no reception. You may use the DIR-890L as a wireless access point
by connecting it to an uplink network via an Ethernet cable. This
can be useful if you already have an existing router without built-in wireless capabilities or if your existing wireless signal can’t bridge the distance.
Devices connected to the DIR-890L obtain IP addresses from the existing uplink network.
Place the DIR-890L in an area where you wish to get Wi-Fi, but is reachable by Ethernet cable from your uplink network.
