Chapter 10: House/barn setup
Auger setup
The auger setup menu can be accessed through the Feeding option in the setup menu.
Once you have accessed the auger setup menu, you must configure and choose an auger schedule.
Bird scale weighing platform setup
When a bird scale expansion box is detected on the EDGE network and the weighing platforms have
been configured, you can setup the bird scale in the room setup page.
In the setup menu , click on Weight platforms under the Room setup radio button, and then click on
the button to add a platform.
Enter the following parameters depending on your target weight setting type:
Target weight setting
type Choose between a fixed setting type or a curve
(displays when
you select Curve in the
Target weight setting
type)
Use the drop down list to choose the weighing curve.
Start weighing at (Dis-
plays when you select
Fixed in the Target
weight setting type) The age at which the weighing of the animals starts
Uniformity bandwidth Used in operation to show the percentage of birds that are within this bandwidth range.

Uniformity error Used in operation to discard the weights that are not within range. See below for more
explanation.
Determining valid weights
In order to prevent false readings caused by animals moving the platform, you must set up the Uniformity
parameters to discard weights that are too far from the current average weight.
For example, if you want to discard weights that are lower than 50%, and higher than 150% of the bird
average weight, 50% would be your validation percentage to put in the Uniformity error. The weights that
fall within the Uniformity error are discarded.
For all the birds that are within the valid weight range, you might only be interested in the birds which are
within plus or minus 15% of the average bird weight. In this case, 15% is your Uniformity bandwidth. The
following figure displays this example:
