1.
Connect a null modem serial cable to an available serial port on
the IBM-PC.
2.
Connect the other end of the cable to the serial port on the PA
PowerStation.
Connecting a Serial Mouse
If you need to connect a serial mouse to the serial port on the PA
PowerStation, you must check the settings to ensure that a COM port
is not already configured as a Download only port. If the COM port
that you want to use for the mouse is already assigned for Download,
complete the following steps:
1.
Select Settings from the MachineShop Shell Main Menu.
2.
Select Direct Serial from the Settings menu.
3.
Select Port.
4.
Select the COM port that you want to use as the Download port.
Or, you can select Disable to prevent any COM port from being
used as a COM port.
5.
If the Serial Mouse is not already connected to the PA
PowerStation, connect it now.
6.
Reboot the workstation.
