NOTE:
The included WiFi usb adapter uses the Ralink 5370 chipset. This will
only connect to 2.4 GHz WiFi networks. We have experimented with other WiFi
adapters but we don't have a conclusive list of what works and what doesn't.
Please consult the forum to discuss other possible adapters. When in doubt,
stick with the included adapter which has been proven to work very well.
The Organelle has 2 modes of WiFi operation: normal and AP mode. In normal mode the
Organelle connects to an existing WiFi network. In AP mode the Organelle creates its own
network (Access Point, or hot-spot).
The easiest way to get the Organelle connected to an existing network is to first start in AP
mode. Then you can join this newly created network with your computer and enter
credentials for any other networks from the Organelle's web interface. So we'll cover AP
mode first.
5.1 Using AP mode
Starting the Organelle in AP mode allows you to connect to the Organelle with a computer
and nothing else (wireless router) is required. Once connected you can access the web
interface and transfer patches or setup other existing WiFi networks to join.
From the Settings menu select WiFi Setup to launch the main WiFi Setup screen. First will
be a list of stored networks. On a new Organelle there is just one, named 'music'. We don't
want to connect to an existing network just yet, so we select
Start AP
. This will create a
WiFi network named 'Organelle'.
