The CNPCI-8, Power Control Interface, is an interface
that reports to a Crestron
®
control processor over the
Cresnet
®
system. The CNPCI-8 provides eight single
pole, single throw relays, each rated up to 20A for
lighting, motor control etc.; 120/277 VAC. Each relay is
normally open and can be controlled via software
programming.
Physical Description
The CNPCI-8 comes in a surface-mount NEMA-type
steel enclosure. The CNPCI-8 has a 9-pin connector for
attaching eight local inputs.
Operation
Providing a closure from ground (G input pin) to any of
the input pins 1-8 provides an input to the Cresnet system.
These inputs can be programmed to control the CNPCI-8
relays and/or other control system functions. A SIMPL
signal, which is driven by a local input, remains high for
as long as the closure to ground exists on the
corresponding input pin.

The latest versions can be obtained from the Downloads | Software
Updates section of the Crestron website (www.crestron.com).
Refer to NOTE below.
2.
Crestron 2-Series control systems include the AV2 and PRO2.
Consult the latest Crestron Product Catalog for a complete list of
2-Series control systems.
When the signal driving a relay goes high, the
corresponding relay activates. The relay remains
energized as long as its driving signal is high. When the
driving signal goes low, the relay is deactivated.
NOTE:
Crestron software and any files on the website
are for Authorized Crestron dealers and Crestron
Authorized Independent Programmers (CAIP) only. New
users may be required to register to obtain access to
certain areas of the site (including the FTP site).
If the data wires from the control system are
disconnected, but the CNPCI-8 remains connected to a
Crestron power supply and receives 24 volts, the relays of
the CNPCI-8 may still be operated from the local control
inputs. In this mode, each momentary closure on an input
alternatively latches and unlatches the corresponding
relay.
Setup
The 4-pin connector marked NET should be wired to the
Cresnet system. Network termination points are available
at the control system or power supply. Network units may
be daisy-chained together. Refer to the latest revision of
the wiring diagram appropriate for your specific system
configuration, available from the Downloads | Product
Manuals | Wiring Diagrams section of the Crestron
website (
Identity Code
All equipment and user interfaces within Cresnet require a
unique identity code (Net ID). These codes are two-digit
hexadecimal numbers from 03 to FE. The Net ID of each
unit must match an ID code specified in the SIMPL
Windows program.
The CNPCI-8 has an indicator marked NET POWER.
This indicator illuminates when 24 volts is supplied to the
unit over Cresnet. The indicator marked ID SELECT
illuminates when communication between the Cresnet
system and the CNPCI-8 is established (unit is polled on
the network). Illumination indicates that the SIMPL
Windows program currently loaded has a network device
defined at the same Net ID as the CNPCI-8.
To set the Net ID, locate two miniature rotary switches,
identified as H and L. These 16-position hexadecimal
switches can be set to 0 through F. Using a small
screwdriver, rotate the arrow in the center of the switch
marked H to point to the first (or most-significant) digit of
the specified Net ID. Set the switch marked L to the
second (least-significant) digit of the specified Net ID.
