•
After alignment is verified in all three planes, loosely attach the interconnecting waveguide
to the output waveguide flange of the Indoor SSPA with the screws, flat-washers, and lock-
washers provided. Start all bolts and verify proper alignment.
•
A progressive tightening procedure is recommended. Tighten each bolt until the lock-
washer starts to compress and then proceed to the next bolt, until you have partially
tightened all the bolts. Tightening sequence is shown in figure 2-2.
•
Starting with the first bolt, fully tighten them to the desired torque level. Do not over-
tighten the screws because this can strip the threads or distort the mating flange.
2.6.6
RF Coaxial Connections
Refer to Figure 2-1 previously in this chapter for connector locations. All connectors are N-type
female, and mate with a N-type male connectors.
Note: Position the coaxial cables so that there is no stress on connectors
J2, J4, J5, J16, and J17. Stress on any connector may cause permanent
damage.
Note: Cross-threaded coaxial connectors do not make proper contact and
may cause large losses of the SSPA’s output signal.
Once the unit has been installed on-site, and the appropriate power cables and waveguides
have been assembled, the RF connections can be made.
2.6.6.1 RF Input (J2)
The RF Input port is located on the rear panel of the SSPA and consists of a 50-
Ω
, N-type, female
connector. The RF input signal is applied to this port for amplification. Prepare a user-supplied
input cable and connect it to RF input connector J2.
2.6.6.2 RF Output Monitor (J4) (Optional)
The RF output monitor port is located on the front panel of the SSPA and consists of a 50
Ω
, N-
type, female connector. Use this port to monitor the RF Output. An RF output monitor cable can
be connected directly to connector J4 and has -55 dB nominal coupling. The calibration data is
available on the front panel display.
