Features
Database operational mode is for patient monitoring, and collecting and downloading cerebral
oximetry metrics for the STS adult cardiac surgery database. This mode is similar to the Normal
mode and, in addition, permits the calculation and display of area under the curve. It also enables
other features related to the database, such as time entries and display of rSO
2
data for induction
and skin closure, and data entry if monitor provided a first alert.
•
Area under the curve (AUC) represents the cumulative saturation below threshold and is expressed in
min.-percent. A baseline must be set to autocalculate the area of the curve below 75% of baseline and
continuously update the AUC as a cumulative variable in the memory. For AUC to also display on the
screen, an induction time must be set after the baselines are set. The AUC is calculated for left (L) and
right (R) channels only. The user will be able to set high and low alarm limits and variance for the auto
low alarm.
•
The baselines or baselines are a moment defined in time as the normative reference for the case. After
the baseline is selected, the system starts calculating the cumulative saturation depth and time below
the threshold (75% of baseline) but it is not displayed on the monitor until the induction time is
entered.
The baseline can be set the following ways:
•
From the Ba events screen and the Set baselines menu
•
As an event from the Event list screen (see code 2 on
•
Automatically 5–6 minutes after NEW PATIENT is selected and an rSO
2
value is obtained.
