Using the Digital Output Port
WARNING:
It is recommended that all equipment used together with the monitor for real-time data collection
be placed outside of the “patient environment.” If this condition cannot be met, the monitor and
the equipment shall be powered by using a separation device (please see IEC 60601-1-1, Table
BBB.201). All equipment used outside the patient environment must be approved to the
appropriate IEC or ISO standards (for example, IEC950 for office equipment).
This port provides digital data communications with other devices such as a Philips VueLink™*
interfacing module or personal computer (PC). The data that can be transmitted through this port
is either real-time, case history, or Database summary menu data. Digital output port interfacing
is described in this section using a VueLink™* Open Interface module and the HyperTerminal™*
program. Contact Covidien’s customer service department for compatibility with other commer-
cial devices or to order a null modem cable (see sections
Using a Philips VueLink™* Open Inter-
Using HyperTerminal™* via Null Modem Cable to Capture and Store Data
When INVOS™ System is Part of a Medical Monitoring System
).
Note:
Avoid contact with the digital output port while operating the INVOS™ system. For the location of the
digital output port, see
The digital communications output uses the following protocol:
•
9600 baud
•
No parity
•
8 data bits
•
1 stop bit
•
Flow control: None
The digital output port should be set for the desired function (PC Link and VueLink™*).
