10-5.1. Oil Pump or Tach Drive Repair and Replacement
Procedure
WARNING
If engine electrical power is not disconnected, a faulty ignition
circuit could allow the engine to start and the propeller to
rotate. Do not stand or place equipment within the arc of the
propeller.
NOTE: Access to the oil pump requires removal of the accessory
case which may require removal of the engine from the airframe.
1.
Disconnect electrical power to the engine and ensure the Ignition Switch is turned
OFF.
2.
For the tach drive adapter replacement, refer to the Accessory Case Removal and
Installation instructions in Chapters 6 and 11, respectively in the TCM Overhaul
Manual (OH-22)
3.
Remove malfunctioning oil pumps or oil pump components by removing the oil
pump according to the “Oil Pump Removal” instructions in Chapter 6 of the TCM
Overhaul Manual (OH-22).
4.
Inspect the oil pump components according to the Lubrication System Service Limits
in section 10-5.6. Replace parts that do not meet the dimensional specifications.
5.
Install the new oil pump according to “Oil Pump Installation” instructions in Chapter
11 of the TCM Overhaul Manual (OH-22).
