CICP2800PMBD Base Processor PC Board
CICP18MEM8MB SRAM 8MB Memory Module
Installation Instructions
OVERVIEW
The
CICP2800PMBD Base Processor PC Board
is in-
stalled into four metal standoffs located at the top of the Ac-
celaterm enclosure, and is connected to the Accelaterm Inter-
face PC board with a ribbon cable. Optionally, up to two
model CICP18MEM8MB 8MB SRAM Memory Module(s)
can be installed into the CICP2800PMBD Base Processor.
See installation instructions WI1989 for more information re-
garding the installation of the Accelaterm control panel.
CICP2800PMBD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Prior to opening the CICP2800PMBD Base Proces-
sor package or touching anything inside the control
panel enclosure, discharge any static electricity from
your body or clothing. Use a grounded wrist strap or
touch an unpainted, grounded metal object such as
the metal frame of the panel enclosure.
1
. Remove power from the system, and disconnect the bat-
teries.
2
.
Unplug the ribbon cable from the existing
CICP2800PMBD PC board.
3
. Pinch each of the four (4) metal standoffs one at a time until
the PC board is free. Carefully remove the
CICP2800PMBD from the enclosure.
4
.
Align the four (4) mounting holes in the new
CICP2800PMBD PC board with the four (4) metal stand-
offs, and push the PC board into the standoffs to secure.
Connect the ribbon cable.
5
. Activate the Memory Backup Lithium Cell by removing the
small paper from the cell holder. The voltage provided will
ensure memory data is retained should power by lost from
the Accelaterm Interface PC board.
6
. Restore power to the system, and reconnect the batteries.
Note:
If desired, up to two model CICP18MEM8MB 8MB
SRAM Memory Module(s) can be installed into the
CICP2800PMBD Base Processor PC board
before
the
CICP2800PMBD board is installed into the Accelaterm panel
enclosure.
NEVER use standard PC-type 72 pin Dynamic
RAM SIMM devices in place of the
CICP18MEM8MB
Mem-
ory Modules.
CICP18MEM8MB SRAM INSTALLATION
Prior to opening the Memory Module package or
touching anything inside the control panel enclosure,
discharge any static electricity from your body or
clothing. Use a grounded wrist strap or touch an
unpainted, grounded metal object such as the metal
frame of the panel enclosure.
1
. Before installation, verify that the Accelaterm panel is working
correctly. Verify that the OK lamp (LED) on the Accelerator
board blinks once per second.
2
. Inside the panel housing, remove power from the main control
panel PCB and disconnect the battery wires to remove all
power from the system.
3
. Move the MEMORY BACKUP CELL
jumper J4 to the IN position to remove
power from the static RAM, thus mak-
ing installation safer for the memory
components (see Fig. 2).
4
.
Note:
Do not bend the Memory Module(s). Touch only the
edges.
The motherboard sockets and the Memory Modules are both
keyed to ensure foolproof installation (each socket in the
CICP2800PMBD Base Processor PC Board contains a small
bridge that aligns with a notch in the bottom edge of each mod-
ule). The bridge and the notch allow the Memory Module to be
installed only in the correct direction.
•
If installing only one Memory Module, insert the module
into the bank labeled "
MemExp1
".
•
If installing two Memory Modules,
insert the first module
into the bank labeled "
MemExp2
", then insert the second
module into the bank labeled "
MemExp1
".
5
.
Align the Memory Module:
With the module angled to the
rear of the enclosure, align the module with the socket, then
completely insert the module into the socket as shown in Fig. 3,
below. If you encounter any problems inserting the module,
stop and verify the
notch
and the plastic
bridge
are properly
aligned. NEVER force the Memory Module into the socket; if
excess force is used, damage to both the module and the moth-
erboard socket could result.
