2.6
Risks of misuse of the cold fogging process
Industrial safety
Inadequate professional training of employees can lead to improper use and damage to persons, the environ-
ment, cultures or material. Without adequate personal protective equipment, nebulised substances penetrate
the organism faster through inhalation via the lungs than in other forms. Neglect of personal protective
measures (gas mask, protective suit, gloves), for example when entering the room into the fog atmosphere,
can lead to damage to health - even if no more fog is visible!
Use of medium
Undesirable results may occur if unauthorized agents are used for the procedure or if no feedback is given to
the manufacturer for proper application.
Flammable materials (liquids and dusts) must not be nebulized, as this may cause an explosion hazard.
Improper use of agents belonging to the group of hazardous substances can lead to damage. Agents contai-
ning acids, bases or solvents can damage the unit.
Procedure
Non-compliance with the work steps according to this manual can lead to unforeseen fog leaks and thus to
damage. Equipment in the room that is not sufficiently protected can be attacked.
During fogging, air is supplied to the rooms, which must escape somewhere. The escape must be possible
and must be taken into account in all occupational safety and security considerations. Ignoring the openings
of the room to be fogged can lead to unwanted wetting and thus to damage to equipment, living creatures
or the environment, even in other rooms or in the open air.
If any objects are fogged too densely, highly concentrated deposits with consequential damage can occur.
