FEC-2 ACM ADAPTIVE CODING
AND
MODULATION (ACM) OPTION
MODE is a key parameter when configuring the modem. To simplify the menu
selections, first determine the INTERFACE and FRAMING type for both Transmit
and Receive. Once these have been selected, only menu selections that are
applicable to those particular modes are shown. For example:
•
When G.703 interface is selected, the data rate menu is restricted to
only the appropriate G.703 rates.
To access the IP, IP-ACM, or V2-ACM modes, make sure the CnC mode is set to
ON or OFF, since access is not available when the CnC mode is set to APC.

This screen example depicts an Interface Type menu screen. Select Interface Type and
Framing for both Tx and Rx from this menu.
Use the
◄ ►
arrow keys to select the parameter to edit. The bottom line indicates the available
options for the active parameter. Not all options are always available – they depend on other
settings or on the modem’s activated
FAST options.
The first parameter is the Interface Type . Available options are:
► G.703x: ► IP ► V2-ACM (VersaFEC-2)
•
G.703B (Balanced)
► IP-ACM (VersaFEC) ►V.35
• G.703U (Unbalanced)
► RS422
Use the
▲▼ arrow keys to scroll through the available options. Press
ENTER .
If the cursor is on the second parameter – the Framing Type – the display appears as shown:

Interface Notes:

The IP-ACM and V2-ACM mode choices limit available framing types to NONE or
EDMAC . See Appendix K. V
