Checking Each Switch Element
for Port or ISL Issues
Check the switch element by displaying port status and ISL information. For information
on the
islTopoCheck
Telnet command, enter
help islTopoCheck
from a Telnet prompt.
1. Log on with administrative privileges to the first switch element, using a Telnet
connection.
login: admin
password: password
2. At the prompt, enter the
islTopoCheck
command.
This command provides detailed information about the local switch element currently
being accessed. If there are any problems, the Status column shows an error condition.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the remaining five switch elements in the SAN Integrated
Switch.
Resetting Factory Defaults
If you change a password and forget it, the password can be reset to the factory default. To
revert to factory default values.
1. Power down the switch element by unplugging the power cord.
2. Connect the serial cable from the host serial port to the switch element serial port.
3. Power up the switch element by plugging in the power cord.
4. Establish a connection between the host and the switch element using a terminal
emulation program such as HyperTerminal.
5. When prompted, enter the
configDefault
command to reset user names and passwords.
IMPORTANT:
The configDefault command resets the password and many other switch element
parameters. Be sure you understand the effects of this command before you issue it.
NOTE:
The configDefault command does not affect the SNMP agent configuration.
6. Close the terminal emulation program, disconnect the serial cable from the
workstation and the switch element, and cover the serial port.
