Normal Power-Up Sequence
The following sequence of events occurs when a system meeting the minimal
hardware requirements is powered up under normal operating conditions.
1.
The front panel Power On/Standby LED turns from amber (standby) to
green (on).
2.
All fans power up and start running.
3.
Components power up in the following sequence:
a.
System initialization
b.
PCI auto-configuration
c.
Video initialization
d.
Memory test
e.
Memory initialization
f.
Processor initialization
g.
Power supply checking
h.
System event checking
i.
Diskette drive initialization
j.
CD-ROM initialization
k.
SCSI device initialization
l.
Additional IDE device initialization

The operating system launches.
Diagnosis Steps
If your server does not power up, or powers up but does not complete the
POST procedure, answer the questions in the following table to determine
appropriate actions based on the symptoms observed.
Based on the answers you give, you will be directed to the corresponding
troubleshooting table in the section immediately following. Each table outlines
possible reasons for the problem, options available to assist in diagnosis,
possible solutions available, and references to other sources of information.
