Charge for the Calls
Telephone function
A conversation between an Intercom station and a telephone builds up the first B-channel, which is
one chargeable call. The caller is charged the cost of the connection. The second B-channel is not
required, but cannot be used for a second conversation between an Intercom station and a tele-
phone. With a MSN configuration the second B-channel could be used e.g. for a modem, restrictions
see ”The ISDN Basic Rate Interface” on page 8
Network function
The first conversation between two Intercom Servers builds up both B-channels, one for data and
one for speech, which are two chargeable calls. The calling Intercom Server is charged the data con-
nection; the called Intercom Server is charged the speech connection.
For each further connection between these two Intercom Servers only one B-channel for speech is
built-up. The called Intercom Server is charged this speech connection. Example:
Line length
S0-Bus (network termination NT to socket RJ 45): about 150 m (492 ft – point-to-multipoint confi-
guration). If all ISDN equipment is connected within 25 to 50 m (80 to 160 ft) the S0 bus can be elon-
gated up to 300 to 500 m (1000 to 1600 ft – ask your Telecom provider).
Connection to Intercom Server (socket RJ 45 to installation board G8A-C): max. 10 m (32.8 ft) –

Attention:
If the G8-S0/G3-S0-I can not build up a configured connection any more, it will try to call
the defined telephone number. If an equipment that answers automatically is connected there (e.g. a
modem with “Auto Answer Function“), a chargeable call is built-up every time.
