
7.3 Testing Sequence
The manufacturer recommends that the user carry out the test sequence in the order presented in the following
subparagraphs, although skipping to a specific test is possible. For the interval order, the tests are found in, see
Section 7.2.
All test items correspond to the time intervals displayed in the “INTERVAL” window as follows:
OFF
Alarm Buzzer ON/OFF, Time Adjust and Interval, all Smart Features if applicable
Follow the directions given in the Operation Manual.
CON
Safety Timer Test.
NOTE: The CON Safety Timer Test is a built-in safety precaution that activates when one or
both of the following conditions are met:
· Pump is on for approximately 140 seconds. (The acceptable range is 120 to 160 seconds)
· Dump valve remains closed for 140 seconds while the unit is in use.
· Repeat Steps 4 and 5 of beginning of test procedure when test is complete.
The cuff connector should be open.
a. Safety Timer Check No. 1 (only pump on)
Press the START/STOP switch to show “-1-” in SYSTOLIC window. Press the START/STOP
switch again to start test. While the pump is being operated, “-1-” flashes and elapsed time (in
seconds) is displayed in the PULSE window (DIASTOLIC window for model 8800 Press-
Mates). After about 120 seconds, the safety timer turns the power OFF and the dump valve is
opened.
b. Safety Timer Check No. 2 (only dump close)
Press the START/STOP switch and the LIST UP and DOWN switch to show “-2-” on SYSTOLIC
indicator. Press the START/STOP switch again to start the test. The timer stops operating about 140
seconds after closing the dump valve. While the dump valve is being closed, “-2-” flashes and elapsed
time (in seconds) is displayed in the PULSE window (DIASTOLIC window for model 8800 Press-
Mates). After about 140 seconds, the safety timer turns the power OFF and the dump valve is
opened.
c. Safety Time Check No. 3 (dump and bleed close)
Press the START/STOP switch and the LIST UP and DOWN switch to show “-3-” on the
SYSTOLIC indicator. Press the START/STOP switch again to start the test. The timer stops
operating about 140 seconds after closing the dump and bleed valves. While the dump and bleed
valves are closed, “-3-” flashes and elapsed time (in seconds) is shown in the PULSE window
(DIASTOLIC window for model 8800 Press-Mates). After about 140 seconds, the safety timer
turns the power OFF and the dump valve is opened.
