3.4.4 Calculate power cables for the SAILOR 3027
If possible, use the cables included with your SAILOR 6120/30/40/50
system.
If you want to use other cables or extend the included cables, use the
guidelines in this section to calculate the maximum length of your power
cables.
• When extending the power cable, positive and negative supply wires
must be installed closely together side by side to keep cable inductance
low.
• Ensure that cable inductance for the selected cable at the desired length
is below the 50 uH requirement. Refer to the data sheet for the cable
you are using.
3.4.4.1 Source impedance
The length of the power cable depends on the type of cable used and the
source impedance of the ship’s DC power source.
The maximum allowed source impedance depends on the utilization of the
power range of the DC input.
The total impedance is made up of the source impedance of the power
supply plus the impedance of connected cables including connectors and
joints where cables might be extended.
