Basic System Checks
RECEIVE TEST
Reverse video will surround the system number, while
the receive frequency will be displayed followed by an
“R”. A squelch noise or received communication
means the receiver portion of the radio is working.
TRANSMIT TEST
Engage the aircraft transmit push-to-talk switch to
activate the mic key. The transmit indicator, also
known as a carrot or arrow, will be solid when RF
energy is leaving the radio. The transmit frequency
will be displayed, followed by a “T”. If the TX
indicator is hollow, only the mic key input is
functioning, and the radio is not transmitting.
