Horn Switch
ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS
HORN SWITCH

TESTING THE HORN SWITCH
See Test Procedure 41 – Horn Switch on page 11-58.
HORN SWITCH REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect battery and spark plug wire(s).
See Disconnecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles, Section 10,
2.
Unscrew the rubber cap (1) from the horn switch (2)
3.
Disconnect the wires from the two pin connector on the horn switch
HORN SWITCH INSTALLATION
1.
Install the jam nut (3) until it makes contact with the body of the horn switch
2.
Insert the horn switch into the hole from beneath the floorboard. Screw the rubber cap onto the switch from above
the floorboard until the push-button tip of the switch extends through the hole in the rubber cap. Tighten the jam
nut to 22 in-lb (2.5 N·m)
3.
Connect wire harness at the connector on the horn switch.
4.
Connect battery and spark plug wire(s).

• Due to the danger of an exploding battery, wear a full face shield and rubber gloves when working
on or near batteries.
• Battery – Explosive gases! Do not smoke. Keep sparks and flames away from the vehicle and service
area. Ventilate when charging or operating vehicle in an enclosed area. Wear a full face shield and
rubber gloves when working on or near batteries.
• Tools, wires, and metal objects can cause sparks when shorted across a battery.
• Follow all instructions carefully when working with batteries.
• Charge battery in a well-ventilated area only.
