Connecting to the power supply
The THERMOMARK S1.1 is equipped with a wide-range power supply unit. The device can
be operated with a mains voltage of 230 V AC/50 Hz or 100 V AC/60 Hz without any
adjustments or modifications.
•
Insert the mains cable in the mains connection socket (2).
•
Insert the mains cable connector into a grounded socket.

Connect the printer to the computer
The THERMOMARK S1.1 can be connected to a computer installed with Windows XP,
Windows 2000 or Windows Vista using the USB or parallel interface cable supplied.
A printer driver must be installed if the printer is to be connected to a PC. You will find the
appropriate printer driver for your device on the CD-ROM that was supplied with the printer
or on the Internet at
www.phoenixcontact.net/download
Requirements for connecting to a computer
•
Make sure that the printer is switched off.
•
Make sure that both the ink ribbon and print media have been inserted.
•
Make sure that the printer has been connected to the mains.
Connecting to the computer via the USB or parallel interface
•
Switch the computer on and exit all running programs.
•
Switch on the THERMOMARK S1.1. The Ready LED lights up green.
•
Connect the computer to the printer using the USB or parallel interface cable supplied.
The Windows installation wizard will start automatically.
•
Insert the supplied CD-ROM with the driver into the CD drive and follow all on-screen
instructions.
•
If a message appears indicating that the printer has not passed Windows logo testing,
click on "Continue Anyway".
Following successful installation, an icon for the THERMOMARK S1.1 appears in the
Windows "Printer" system folder.
Finally configure the THERMOMARK S1.1 in the marking software.
•
For instance in CLIP PROJECT under "File... Printer setup...", choose the
THERMOMARK S1.1 as printer.
Connecting to the computer via the serial interface
You can find the interface assignment under "Serial interface" on page A-2.
NOTE: Device can be damaged by undefined inrush currents
Before connecting to the mains, set the mains switch (1) to "O".
NOTE: Errors during operation due to insufficient or missing grounding
Make sure that all computers and connecting cables connected to the
THERMOMARK S1.1 are grounded.
